Application Outcomes

Eligible applicants whose pre-allocation applications are approved will be pre-allocated to the foundation school requested (as per the requirements of the criterion applied for). If your application is approved, a copy of the application form and supporting documentation will be forwarded to the requested foundation school you have requested. Refer to “Next Steps If Approved for Pre-allocation” for further information.

Approved applications for non-priority group applicants

If you are approved for pre-allocation but you are an applicant in the non-priority group who is placed on the national reserve list to await allocation to a foundation school, you could still be pre-allocated to a foundation school but only if a place is available in that foundation school in that round of allocation. You must be ranked high enough to be included in that round of allocation.  If there are no places available at your requested foundation school at the time you are allocated from the reserve list, you will be allocated elsewhere according to the places available, your PIA rank and your stated preferences.

Step 1 review outcomes

Applications which have not passed the Step 1 review will be deemed unsuccessful due to an incomplete application, and the applicant will not be able to appeal against this outcome.  Applicants are not able to correct any errors made as part of their initial application and cannot provide any additional information/evidence they might have omitted from their application. Step 2 panel review outcomes

If the national review panel has not approved an application, the applicant will be notified of the reason(s) for this in their outcome email.

Applicants are able to submit an appeal if they believe that processes or procedures have not been followed by the UKFPO and the national review panel, or there is evidence of unfairness in how the process has been implemented, and the objectivity of decisions is called into question.

In their outcome email, applicants will be advised of the national appeal process and the date by which an appeal must be submitted.

Applicants cannot submit additional or missing evidence/documentation or correct any errors they may have made in their original application as part of the appeal process.

If an applicant has not had their pre-allocation application approved (and any subsequent appeal is rejected) they will be automatically included in the main Foundation Programme allocation process. There is no action required from the applicant on Oriel (or offline) for this to take place.
